Chalkboard LOVE- and GIVEAWAY

I have been wanting my very own chalkboard for awhile now.  But, we had all these fun supplies on hand, I knew we just had to do it ourselves.  Gathering all our supplies, we got this baby done in 3 hours or so.  Not too shabby.

First, to paint.  We had some thing MDF board left over from some packaging for a piece of furniture we bought.  I painted that.  I'm wishing now I had taken the time to do a little work here.  I painted three coats and called it good.  But, I wish I had painted a coat. Sanded.  another coat.  Sanded.  etc... Maybe you can do better than I did.

Yep.  That's pallet wood.  My hubby made the frame, and stapled that honey together.  It was still a little wonky without the backing.

After the staples, he nailed it together to really make it stick.

To add the chalkboard to the frame, he added some wood to each side, and a little washer to hold that chalkboard in place.  We also had some stain on hand, so we rubbed a little on, and a little off, and called it done.

Here's the finished product.

And because this baby hangs in my workstation in my kitchen, I wanted to add my favorite phrase.

The purpose of the task is to strengthen the relationship.

This statement is huge for me.  I have a tendency to want to check things off the list.  I forget the reason I am working so hard.  The point of each task, is not to get the task completed, but to strengthen the relationship of those I am doing it for, or with.  This really is a game changer for me, and something I think we all could think deeper on.

I'll let you do your own pondering.
BUT...if you want some of your own vinyl lettering for this phrase.  Just leave a comment, saying you want some.  And I'll pick not one, but TWO winners for this drawing.

Good luck.
